ROCKSTAR IS SELLING A $400 GTA 6 COLLECTOR'S BOX WITH NO GTA 6 IN IT
Rockstar unveiled The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection on September 24 for $399.99. It shipped up for preorder at that price in the US, and it launches November 19, the same day as GTA 6. It does not contain GTA 6. Not a disc, not a digital code. The store listing just notes the game is sold separately, which is a hell of a footnote on a four hundred dollar receipt. What you get is 11 pieces of merch built around Macca the Gator, a fictional TV show inside the game's world. The six-inch figure has a twist-open base and shows Macca enjoying a smoke and a flamingo blood martini. Then Oakley Frogskins, a crossbody bag, a New Era snapback, a magnetic mirror, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, a swizzle spoon, a razor blade keychain, pins, stickers and a double-sided poster. The box weighs 24 pounds and doesn't qualify for free shipping. GTA 6 is digital only, so adding the $79.99 Standard Edition puts you at $479.99, and the $99.99 Ultimate puts you at $499.99. Fans did that math instantly. A Cults3D user uploaded their own gator recreation on September 24 and charges less than $2 for it, with a message on the bottom of the model asking about $400 and no disc. Rockstar usually can't keep GTA merch on the shelf for minutes, but this thing was still available to preorder four days later.
Why you should give a shit: GTA 6 has already cleared $400 million in preorders and Rockstar still found the exact price where a diehard closes the tab, and that price is $400 for a cartoon gator with a weed habit.
