A very real story about three humans, one mug, and a newsletter that got out of hand.

About the Dump

Morning Dump is a weekday newsletter that originated with three friends sitting in a dorm bathroom, gathered around some extracurricular glassware, having pointless debates and coming up with ideas that probably should never have left. Two years later, after retiring out of frat life, Blue pitched the idea for a raunchy news outlet that could make being informed fun again. Steel, being a masterful devil’s advocate, wasn’t exactly racing to invest until the first mock-up was created. Then the ideas started flowing, and for once, a few of them were usable. That's when the missing puzzle piece, and the best know-it-all we know, Charlie, hopped on board, and we created a daily, digestible, comedic source of news that never picks a side or strays from the facts. Now, paired up with Mr. Mug, our potty-mouthed mascot from Boston, we bring you: The Morning Dump: Today’s News, Fully Digested.

THE NEWS IS TRUE. THE JOKES ARE OURS.

The people responsible

Steel, Co-Founder at The Morning Dump

Steel

Co-Founder

Steel Wylie was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. A third-generation Buff, he studies Finance and Management Information Systems at CU Boulder and is passionate about using AI to solve real-world problems.

At the Dump

Steel runs the money and crunches the numbers. He also builds the games, delivers the sports takes, and owns anything with “AI” in the name.

Off the clock

You’ll find Steel with the biggest stack at a poker game, golfing, hooping, or kicking Blue’s ass in ping pong. He also owns a samurai sword and is a Lord in Scotland. M’lord says the Cowboys are going to win the Super Bowl.

Wilder Blue, Co-Founder at The Morning Dump

Wilder Blue

Co-Founder

Wilder Blue was born and raised in Aspen, Colorado. He studies Finance and Management Information Systems at CU Boulder and is a relentlessly avid outdoorsman. Whether he is climbing, kitesurfing, lifting, skiing, or finding another competitive way to be outside, Blue rarely sits still.

At the Dump

Blue owns ideation, outreach, and relationships. He helps transform loose ideas into real opportunities and connects The Morning Dump with companies that can gain genuine value from what is being built.

Off the clock

Blue drinks espresso like Homer drinks Duff, is a master planner of procrastination, and naps to bass music. Otherwise, he keeps his mom on the edge of her seat while riding his motorcycle or climbing 14ers.

Charlie, Editor-in-Chief at The Morning Dump

Charlie

Editor-in-Chief

Charlie Seck was born in Cincinnati but spent most of his childhood in Columbus, Ohio. He recently graduated from CU Boulder with a finance degree and is pursuing his master’s in finance this year. He just got back from four months living in Europe and is an avid traveler and explorer who loves meeting new people while experiencing new places and cultures.

At the Dump

Charlie’s job is to keep you entertained. He has the final say on what stories we research and what gets posted to the Morning Dump socials, and he runs the final revisions and quality checks. Anything the Morning Dump puts out goes by Charlie.

Off the clock

Charlie is an avid music fan. Most weekends you can find him gawking at lasers at Red Rocks or blasting reggae on his porch loud enough to hear from campus. He likes trying new foods he probably (definitely) can’t afford and hitting the slopes in the wintertime. Charlie thinks Steel is wrong and the Cowboys miss the playoffs. O-H.

Mr. Mug, The Morning Dump mascot

Mr. Mug

Chief Operating Mug

Mr. Mug is a potty-mouthed coffee mug from Boston with strong opinions and terrible manners.

At the Dump

He keeps the news hot, the jokes reckless, and the humans in line.

Off the clock

He sits on the counter and judges everyone.
