FIFA PRESIDENT TELLS WORLD TO 'CHILL' ABOUT NOT BEING ALLOWED INTO THE WORLD CUP

Gianni Infantino, the guy who handed the World Cup to a country with full control over who gets to enter it, has a message for the teams, fans, and officials sweating visa denials: chill and relax. That's the actual quote. The president of the most powerful soccer organization on earth looked at a potential international travel nightmare for his own tournament and landed on 'not my problem, go touch grass.'

AI IS SAVING YOU 11 HOURS A WEEK AND COSTING YOU 6.4 OF THEM BACK IMMEDIATELY

A survey of 6,000 digital workers by Glean's Work AI Institute found that AI is technically saving employees about 11 hours a week, which sounds incredible until you learn that workers are burning 6.4 of those hours babysitting the bots: feeding them context, debugging garbage outputs, and copy-pasting the same prompt into four different tools that refuse to talk to each other. Researchers are calling this 'botsitting,' and if that's not bleak enough, meet its evil twin 'botshitting,' where 69% of workers admit to shipping AI-generated work they never actually verified, and 41% confess they could not explain their own deliverables if anyone asked.

ONE CRYPTO TOKEN IS EATING HALF THE SECTOR'S BUYBACKS AND EVERYONE IS FREAKING OUT ABOUT IT

According to a Citrini Research report making the rounds, HYPE, the native token of on-chain derivatives platform Hyperliquid, has accounted for roughly 50% of all token buyback activity across its entire peer group. That's not a market strategy, that's a guy at a buffet elbowing everyone else away from the shrimp. Hyperliquid runs a fee-driven derivatives exchange and recycles that revenue straight back into buying its own token, which is either genius cash-flow discipline or a very expensive way to paper over a demand problem, depending on who you ask. Bullish traders see a relentless bid machine; skeptics see a protocol hooked on its own supply, propped up by trading volume that could vanish the second the market gets boring.

SCIENTISTS GROW CHOCOLATE IN A TANK IN SACRAMENTO BECAUSE NATURE HAD ITS CHANCE AND BLEW IT

A West Sacramento startup called California Cultured is growing cocoa in a 12,000-square-foot facility using bioreactors instead of trees, soil, or anything resembling a farm. They pull cells from a single cacao plant, drop them in a nutrient bath, and three to four days later they've got harvestable biomass that gets fermented and roasted into cocoa powder. No West Africa required. The reason this matters is that West Africa very much required itself right into a catastrophe: disease wiped out 81 percent of Ghana's northwestern crop, bad weather torched flowering cycles across the region, and global cocoa futures hit $11,530 per tonne in June 2024, up from a $3,182 average the year before. California Cultured has been building toward this since 2020, which means they called the shot before the gun went off.

RUPAUL IS THE PRESIDENT IN A DISASTER MOVIE AND SOMEHOW THAT'S THE LEAST INSANE PART

A new disaster-spoof called 'Stop! That! Train!' just dropped, and it features RuPaul as President Judy Gagwell, elected on the campaign slogan 'SHE FUN,' wearing Hillary-Kamala pantsuits, with a panic button on her Oval Office desk labeled 'JK LOL' and another one that launches nuclear strikes. The runaway train is headed toward a storm called 'Stormaganza,' a nuclear plant, a hotel for dogs, and, critically, the home of beloved actress Laurie Metcalf. The movie has a safety announcement that is a saucy song-and-dance number. America is healing. Director Adam Shankman packed so many jokes into this thing that the blooper reel at the end reportedly feels slow by comparison. The stars are two drag queens from RuPaul's Drag Race playing fired train hostesses who sneak onto a luxury train full of rich people and a peasant washing clothes on a washboard. A character is named Ayshleiygh. That is a real spelling choice made by real adults in a real film.
