NVIDIA AND APPLE EACH PUT $25 MILLION INTO TRUMP'S BALLROOM.

A leaked internal spreadsheet landed at The Washington Post, and now we know exactly what everybody paid for Trump's new White House ballroom. Nvidia and Apple each pledged $25 million, tying the Adelson family and Dish billionaire Charles Ergen at the top. Microsoft and Palantir went $10 million apiece. Google's $22 million came out of settling Trump's lawsuit over his suspended YouTube account, so Google paid a legal bill and got filed under patriotism. Cisco and ServiceNow each confirmed $5 million. Nvidia told CNBC its support for the country is "paramount, and independent of any business interests," which is a bold thing to say when the same administration decides which of your chips can leave the country. The Post found roughly half the $333 million came from companies or executives with federal contracts, and at least $77 million came from donors who wanted their names nowhere near it. The pledge form called the project the "Donald J. Trump Ballroom," in case anyone was confused about the theme. Trump said the ballroom was being paid for "a hundred percent by me and some friends of mine." The friends showed up. He didn't. White House spokesman Davis Ingle brushed off "fake conflicts of interests" and vowed to hunt down whoever leaked the spreadsheet, which is a confident reaction to a document he insists is totally fine.

Why you should give a shit: Every name on that list needs something from this government, and $25 million just bought them a room inside it to ask in person.
