RIYADH'S AIRPORT HIT IN DEADLY STRIKE ON SAUDI SOIL

A missile hit a terminal at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport on Saturday, killing at least 12 people and wounding 309, some critically. The dead included four Saudis, two Bangladeshis, and one person each from the US, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan. An Indian national wounded in the strike died the next day. It was the deadliest attack on Saudi soil in more than a decade, and the third missile aimed at that one airport in a single week. The Saudi-led coalition called it a full-fledged war crime and promised a decisive response. About a day later, another projectile set Terminal 4 on fire. Air defenses did intercept a cruise missile near the airport, right after the terminal was already burning. The airport shut down and more than 600 flights got cancelled. The Houthis claimed the attacks and framed them as payback for the Saudi air campaign, saying Saudi warplanes flew 124 strikes in 24 hours and killed women and children. So the group that just put a missile into a departures hall is building its case on dead civilians. Everybody in this war has a spokesman and nobody has an off switch. Trump, who spent months waving off Saudi requests for direct US involvement, now says he's considering joining strikes in Yemen.

Why you should give a shit: An American is among the dead and the president is still at "considering," which is historically the last stop before the US owns another war in Yemen.
